Dr. Bokelmann has been a board-certified family physician in the United States for over 35 years. She received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University Medical School and completed her family medicine residency training at University of California Davis. Through her work in various clinical settings Dr. Bokelmann has delivered care to native Americans, college students, veterans, and the medically underserved. Her particular medical interests have included women’s medicine, geriatrics, and integrative medicine. In the early 1990’s she helped develop the Idaho State University Family Medicine Residency Program and has participated in teaching residents in the program ever since. With a longstanding interest in integrative medicine, she began formally teaching integrative modalities to the residents in 2004. She has presented integrative and botanical medical topics to a wide range of audiences including conventional medical practitioners, aromatherapists, naturopaths, and ayurvedic medical practitioners. In her more recent semi-retirement Dr. Bokelmann authored the book “Medicinal Herbs in Primary Care: An Evidence-Guided Reference for Health Care Providers”.
